Weekly Class: Painting Your Way Through Watercolor

This weekly watercolor class is designed to deepen your understanding of how watercolor flows—and how to harness it for your own creative projects! We meet weekly at my studio here in Sunset, TX. Each session is thoughtfully structured, with lessons that may stand alone or unfold over two to four weeks, depending on the project.

The Lesson
Each week begins with a focused lesson on an element of art fundamentals—composition, values, storytelling, and more—paired with one or two specific watercolor techniques. My goal is to build a strong foundation of theory and immediately bring it to life on paper. I want you to feel confident moving from understanding why something works to actually doing it.

The Assignment
Every lesson is paired with a painting project that directly applies what we’ve covered. I believe deeply in working on meaningful subjects—real paintings with personal interest and intention. We skip the lifeless exercises and focus instead on creating work you’re proud of… the kind you’d actually hang on your wall, not quietly retire to the rubbish bin 😉

Your Own Work
Students are always encouraged to bring their own projects to class. We’ll take time to review your paintings together, identify challenge points, brainstorm solutions, and map out next steps—finding natural places to apply the techniques and concepts we’ve explored.

WHO? You might be wondering if you’re a good fit for this class. If you have completed my Water Moves Fundamentals class series or workshop, or if you have personal watercolor experience, you’re set!

So… what is your goal for this class?
