Fly, Bird! : Movement & Water Control

Fly, Bird! is a full-day workshop exploring the beauty of movement through a high-contrast black-and-white bird painting. We’ll focus on

  • The interplay of simultaneous wet and dry techniques to create fluid motion alongside crisp, intentional detail

  • Attend carefully to HOW MUCH water is WHERE...and how to dial it in for purposeful strokes

  • Look at long, smooth strokes that lean into the fluidity of our watercolor medium

Working primarily in nuanced shades of grey, you’ll learn to build depth, create texture by matching value shifts, and then elevate the piece with carefully placed pops of color for striking impact. Designed for artists ready to balance control with flow, this painting is both disciplined and expressive—where restraint meets movement, and simplicity becomes powerful.

Expect step-by-step demonstration, one-on-one coaching, plenty of space for practice.

WHO? This class is perfect for the new artist with exposure to watercolor, or the artist with experience and lingering questions.
